How to Apply for NBI Clearance

Over the years, the NBI Clearance Online has been one of the most popular Valid Identification to obtain. One of the reason is, the NBI Clearance is government-issued and it is easy to obtain. It is also one of the basic requirements for most employer’s before we get hired, plus its instantly provides a background check that serves as a proof that we don’t have a “stained” criminal record.

All over the Philippines, there are hundreds of thousands of NBI Clearance Online applicants daily. It’s such an embarrassment if you don’t know how to apply for one.

Well, today is the day. We will walk you through the process of NBI Online Registration so that no one will get lost when applying for one.

The key element in applying for an NBI Clearance Online is learning the entire process and what to expect so that when something happens, you won’t be shocked and lost in the dark. We will eliminate the element of surprise to avoid disappointments and irritation that most applicants suffer. So what are we waiting for? Let’s start.

To give you a brief update, NBI is now implementing the NBI Biometric Clearance systems. This means, the new system involves the scanning of the ten fingerprints of the applicant. We can now forget the previous process where we we’re assisted by a NBI Employee having our fingerprints with their messy inks on our fingers then charging us two pesos for the ink tissue with alcohol. The new system boasts a computerized finger print scanner which is really convenient for us.

The old NBI Clearance (the one with inked fingerprints) is not valid anymore for NBI renewal. Though, it can also be used as a reference to your application.

Requirements for applying NBI Clearance

Before going to the nearest NBI Clearance Outlet, make sure to bring all the necessary requirements in applying for your NBI Clearance. NBI requires you to present two (2) valid IDs. The list of valid IDs accepted by NBI Clearance Outlet are:

Some NBI Clearance Outlets requires Community Certificate or Cedula together with the two (2) Valid Identification Cards you present. As of this writing, we still don’t know the bearing of cedula in applying for NBI Clearance. Maybe the Government wants to dupe more bucks from us.

Based from our experience, an NBI Clearance Online with the purpose of Travel Abroad can also use as a requirement in Local Employment. But an NBI Clearance for Local Employment is not acceptable for Traveling Abroad.

We cannot say which NBI Clearance outlet has the least applicants because (1) we can’t monitor the volume of applicants daily per NBI Clearance Outlet and (2) it’s really pure luck if you manage to get your NBI Clearance on your target processing time.

All NBI Processing Centers are open from Mondays to Fridays except Holidays.

Steps in Applying NBI Clearance

Fill out and present the accomplished application form together with two (2) valid ID’s to the Data Check Counter for checking if data are complete and correct. Make sure that you accurately fill out your NBI Clearance Application Form or else it will be returned to you for corrections.This is the part where you wait in line. Several NBI Clearance Outlets encounter long queue lines of applicants in obtaining a blank NBI Clearance Application Form and in the presentation of the filled out Application form to the Data Check Counter. What you need here is to be patient and wait for your turn.
Pay for the corresponding NBI Clearance fee at the Payment Counter. Refer to the NBI Clearance Fee above for the fees related to the purpose of your application. This might sound redundant but you need to fall in line again (after the Data Check Counter). This time, you’ll pay the corresponding NBI Clearance Fee.
The data on the application form will be encoded at the Data Entry or Encoding Counter. A PC monitor is provided for the Applicants to check any encoding error, thus, avoiding repayment on their part and complaint against the encoder. You don’t have to do anything here. The NBI Clearance Personnel will encode every detail that you have disclosed in your application form. Your only responsibility here is to write legibly. You don’t want the NBI Clearance Personnel to get confused with your poor handwriting.
Picture-taking or image capture and scanning of the applicant’s fingerprints (Biometrics) will follow. It is not clearly stated in NBI Clearance Application if having a beard or mustache is allowed. We’re not aware of “No Beard, No Mustache Policy”. But for those people who really don’t mind shaving, then do it. Those who feel not shaving, do whatever you want. Remember that if the NBI Clearance rejects you because of your thick beard or mustache, it’s your fault. But it’s really up to you and we don’t have a business in your personal lives, so feel free to do anything.Finger printing is one easy task to accomplish. You just need to place your ten fingers on the scanner and that’s it.
At the Image and Biometric Counter, name of applicant is automatically searched against the Name Database to check whether one has no or with namesake. This is the part where you need to pray that you don’t have a namesake. Because if you do, further verification will be needed.
NBI Clearance certificate of one who has no namesake will be printed at the Printing Counter and released on the same date of application. Those with namesakes are verified against the Criminal History Database to check whether one has criminal record/s.
Those with namesakes are advised to proceed to the Releasing Counter. The release date is written at the back of the Official Receipt when to claim your NBI Clearance. The applicants with “Hit” Status will return to the NBI Clearance Outlet after Eight (8) working days.
Those found to have criminal records are advised to proceed to the Quality Control for interview. Interviewers will require an applicant to execute an Affidavit of Denial if he is not the offender and Court Clearance/Order if he is the offender.

Guidelines to be observed in applying NBI Clearance

The following guidelines must be observed by any applicants:

NBI Clearance is a First Come First Serve Basis.
NBI Clearance Applicants must observe proper dress code. Avoid coming to the venue wearing slippers, shorts and sando to prevent rejection.
Applicants must bring two (2) valid ID. Government Issued ID’s are preferred.
Courtesy lanes are provided for Senior Citizens, Pregnant Women, Nursing Mother and those with Disability (PWD).
There is no more renewal of NBI Clearance anymore. However, the old NBI Clearance (with ink fingerprints) can be attached to your application form for NBI Personnel’s reference.
NBI Clearance can be claimed by any Authorized Person of the Applicant as long as an Authorization Letter is provided.

How to Pay Your NBI Clearance Application in 7-Eleven

NBI Clearance keeps on updating it’s system of how it process the NBI Clearance applicant’s application. If you’re about to apply for your NBI Clearance, either new application or NBI Clearance Renewal, there’s a new convenient way you can pay your NBI Clearance.

Aside from local banks and Bayad Centers authorized to collect the payment for NBI Clearance, NBI Clearance Online has authorized 7-Eleven through its Cliqq Kiosk to collect the payment of our NBI Clearance Application.

So if you’re planning to pay your NBI Clearance Online, consider 7-Eleven as your payment option! We have prepared a simple guide on how to pay your NBI Clearance in 7-Eleven through Cliqq Kiosks below!

How to Pay Your NBI Clearance Application in 7-Eleven

First thing to do is locate the nearest 7-Eleven Convenient store. Please note that for some cases, a 7-Eleven Store doesn’t have a Cliqq Kiosks available. What you’re looking for is a 7-Eleven Convenient Store with an available Cliqq Kiosk.

When you have entered the premises of any 7-Eleven convenient store, locate immediately the Cliqq Kiosk. The Cliqq Kiosks enables customers to reload their mobile phones and pay their utility bills. Every Cliqq kiosk is touch screen so anyone can easily operate it without the hassle.

Going back to your tutorial, when it’s your turn to use the kiosk. Tap in the “BILLS PAYMENT” icon to go to the bills payment section.

Once the bills payment section is loaded, you will be presented by various merchants.

Ignore all of them, your primary goal is to find the NBI logo. If you’re not familiar with the logo, you can just look at the top of this website for reference.

After locating the NBI logo, tap it to proceed!

The next step is very important and very critical. The Cliqq kiosk is now asking you to supply the following details:

Your NBI Clearance Reference number
Contact number
Exact amount

As for the reference number, you can check your NBI Clearance Reference Number online. Avoid making a mistake because if you entered an incorrect number and you already paid for it, the 7-Eleven cashier won’t be able to refund your payment.

You have to coordinated with the NBI Clearance Branch for refund and I’m sure you don’t want that kind of hassle.

The exact amount should be entered, again check you online application first.

Press the NEXT button once done.

Again, enter you contact number. Press the NEXT button.

The Cliqq kiosk will now show you all the details you’ve entered. Verify everything! This is your last chance to check it before the payment slip is printed out. Press the NEXT button to continue.

If you pressed the Next Button and you noticed that you entered an incorrect Reference Number, contact number or amount, what you need to do is start from the beginning and encode everything again. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged of this.

After pressing the next button, the Cliqq kiosk will now print your NBI Clearance payment slip.

Cliqq Kiosk will print your NBI Clearance payment slip. Get it right away. If you’re having trouble locating it, its right below thr monitor/screen. Some kiosk have the payment slip disburse at the middle portion of the machine. You can also ask the cashier or any 7-Eleven personnel to assist you if you still don’t know where to get it.

Once you have the NBI Clearance payment slip, go to the cashier and pay for it.

How much should I pay for my NBI Clearance in 7-Eleven?

Though it is clearly stated in the NBI Clearance Online website that the application fee is for P130, there are additional charges and fees when you pay it in 7-Eleven. The final amount would be P170.

Note: In my screen shot below, you’ll see that the amount paid is P120. Please ignore it. The correct amount is P170.00. That includes P130 NBI Clearance fee and P40 for Other Fees and Charges.

Frequently Asked Questions.

What if I entered an incorrect NBI Clearance Reference Number?

If you accidentally entered an incorrect NBI Clearance reference number, all you have to do is to repeat the entire process. You have to go back from the start where you encode the Reference number, contact number and the amount. Print the payment slip and pay it in the cashier.

This only applies if you haven’t paid the NBI Clearance Payment slip in 7-Eleven Cashier.

If you have paid it already using an incorrect NBI Clearance Reference number, you have to coordinate with the NBI Online and ask them about the payment you’ve made to an incorrect Reference Number. Ask them to fix your problem since you already paid.

This is the reason why I am asking you to double/triple check what you’re encoding in Cliqq Kiosks, imagine the hassle you will go through if you made a mistake. Also, please note that 7-Eleven Cashier can’t refund your payment instantly. So before you pay it, double/triple check the NBI Clearance reference number in you payment slip!

After payment in 7-Eleven, what’s the next thing to do?

After payment, you need to login to your NBI Clearance Online Account. Go to your “TRANSACTIONS” and check if its already in “PAID” status. Ideally, the Cliqq Kiosks and 7-Eleven processes your payment in real time. That means after several minutes, your NBI Clearance Transaction status from “PENDING” will changed to “PAID”.

But due to the high volume of transaction processed by NBI Clearance online, few NBI Clearance Applicants encounters delay in the update of status. Be patient and wait for it to change. You may leave the NBI Clearance website for a while and open it some other time.

Do I have to keep my 7-Eleven receipt?

Yes, of course! In case the status of your NBI Clearance didn’t changed after one (1) day of waiting, you have the proof that you already paid it.

You may inquire from the 7-Eleven Branch if your payment transaction was processed. Show them your Cliqq Receipt. If they have confirmed it, the next step you need to do is call the NBI Clearance hotline and ask for their assistance.

Please note that the 7-Eleven receipts are not another requirement when applying your NBI Clearance.

What to do if I lost my 7-Eleven NBI Clearance receipt.

If you don’t encounter any issues with your NBI Clearance Transaction on their website, meaning your application status changed from “PENDING” to “PAID”. You are not required to present it during your visit in the NBI Clearance Branch. But just to be sure, just keep it.

If you lost it, then there’s no problem. The payment receipt from 7-Eleven is not a requirement.

Cliqq Kiosk shows “Not Connected”, what does it mean?

It’s worth mentioning that 7-Eleven accepts payment for NBI Clearance Online NEW application and NBI Renewal. Don’t be confused.

Sometimes, you’ll see the Cliqq Kiosk showing a “Not Connected” message on its screen. This means that the kiosk is unavailable and unable to perform any transaction.

What you need to do is find another 7-Eleven Branch that have its own Cliqq Kiosk.

Good news to the Filipino whose applying for their NBI Clearance right? Payments for NBI Clearance application is really more convenient than ever before.

Cliqq Kiosk brings a new level of convenience to all Applicant in applying for NBI Clearance Online. We just hope that the fees and charges that are added to the original price of NBI Clearance (P115) will be decreased. But for now, we’ll stick with it’s price.

We are also hoping that someday, Cliqq Kiosks in 7-Eleven will also accept the Philippine Passport.

NBI Clearance Quality Control Interview

It was really annoying because (1) the NBI Clearance Personnel asked me to go to NBI Clearance Main Office where Quality Control Interview is held. I applied for my NBI Clearance in Las Pinas which I have to travel two hours from home and (2) it delays the releasing of my NBI Clearance.

I’ve been asking myself what the heck is this Quality Control Interview? I have encountered five years of having a HIT status, what’s in it this time?

What is NBI Clearance Quality Control Interview?

In my own understanding, NBI Clearance Quality Control Interview is a process by which an NBI Personnel reviews or verify the true identity of the NBI Clearance applicant.

This results from receiving a HIT Status in Database verification process. The derogatory record can be his or her own criminal case or under his namesake. In short, your name has been tagged as critical and NBI wants to make sure that they’ll be giving out NBI Clearances to “clean” persons.

Why is this Happening?

The disappointment of not having my NBI Online really bugs me while sitting on the cab going to the NBI Main Office. Why did NBI Clearance Main office doing this Quality Control Interview? Then I realize few things that might be a good reason why applicants is suffering this.

Maybe:

You have a pending or ongoing case.
You are under for arrest and needs to be identified in relation to a crime by the Police Authorities
Your Namesake has a pending or ongoing case or
Your namesake are under for arrest and needs to be identified in relation to a crime by the Police Authorities

What to do if asked to attend Quality Control Interview?

It’s really a no brainer this time, if you are asked by the NBI Clearance Personnel to attend the Quality Control Interview then you have to.

If you have a clean conscience and have a clean record and as innocent as a child, then you should go. You don’t have to be afraid, it’s not that you did anything illegal that violates our laws, are you?

Bring at least two (2) valid supporting documentation that proves your identity. I suggest you should bring Valid IDs accepted and recognized by NBI. In my case, I brought my Philippine Passport since I just got mine recently.
Be on time. The NBI Personnel asked me to go there the next day at 9AM. I arrived in the place with a lot of people waiting for their turn. The person I was talking to said that the Quality Control Interviewers starts interviewing at around 8AM.
Wear the proper dress code. I can still see few ignorant applicants that was denied to enter the vicinity of NBI Clearance Office because they are wearing slippers and short. You are going inside a Government Building; therefore, everyone is required to wear proper and decent attire. When I say proper and decent, you don’t have to wear your Barong or your Necktie and Suit.
In case you have a criminal case, and the decision has been made. Bring the original and a photocopy of it. This will really help you to clear your record.
Don’t forget to bring your NBI Clearance Online Receipt.

The Quality Control Interview

While waiting for my turn, I realized that the Quality control interview is not that scary at all. I’ve seen many smiling people going out of the enclosed office where the interview is being held. I didn’t see anyone being arrested! Maybe because applicants with criminal case don’t bother to come to the scheduled interview because they really know that they will be instantly arrested because of the crime they have done.

The interview lasted for about 5 to 10 minutes. The NBI Clearance Quality Control Interviewer asked simple questions, most of the time answerable by a Yes or a No. I guess she really knows that I’m not the one they been looking for (I mean my namesake).

Some questions asked are:Are you Mr. Juan Dela Cruz?

- Are you living in (your present address)?
- How long have you been living in your (present address)?
- Have you been to Palawan? It was the place where my namesake committed the crime.
- Do you have a criminal case (such as) Rape, Theft, Serious Physical Injury, Attempted Murder, Plunder, Arson or Treason?

Once you easily denied all their allegations,[lol] you are directed to the NBI Clearance Resident Lawyer to take an oath.

The interviewer will give you a piece of paper, an Affidavit of Denial. You just need to fill out the form. You will be then ask to leave the room and fill out the Affidavit of Denial in the waiting area.

In working with the Affidavit of Denial, there are things you need to remember:

It is for FREE! So avoid the oh-so-Filipino-scheme fixers waiting for unsuspecting victims outside offering their services for a fee.
Fill out the necessary fields: the date of your NBI application and your reference number found in the receipt your NBI Clearance Online Payment. The NBI Clearance QC Interviewer will check all the required details you need to fill out.

Once done, wait for the NBI Clearance Personnel to get your Affidavit of Denial. You will then be in queue for taking an oath. Just be patient in waiting.

When it’s your turn, you will be then ask to stand in front of the NBI Clearance Resident Lawyer.

He will ask you to raise your right hand and be ready to recite “Panatang Makabayan” lol! He will (again) ask few question which is answerable by Yes or No. Sometimes, he would ask you to say your Complete Name and Address or any Personal Details he might think of. In a few seconds, you’ll notice that it’s already finished.

The oath taking is finished! Hoooray! You’re not done yet.

Wait for your Affidavit of Denial to be notarized. This is also for free and no need to shell out some dough.

After receiving your Affidavit of Denial back, hand it over to the person who interviewed you. He or She will write the time of release of your NBI Clearance. You can now leave the room and proceed to the Printing and Releasing Section of NBI Clearance.

How to get or apply an NBI Clearance in Dubai, UAE

Application of NBI Clearance in Dubai? Is it possible? I’ve been living here in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) for about ten (10) months already and getting an NBI Clearance here didn’t crossed my mind. I just thought that I won’t be needing NBI Clearance anymore since I’m already employed to a great multinational company here in Dubai. They won’t ask me to provide one, right?

But as unforeseeable events transpired, my family in the Philippines request me to provide them a copy of my NBI Clearance. My first question is this:

How can I get NBI Clearance in Dubai?

Since I’m new here in this place, I didn’t know how to secure this government issued document. If I were in the Philippines, I can easily set an appointment with the NBI Clearance Online website and have my clearance processed. Or, I can go to the Philippine Consulate and start asking questions there but I’m not comfortable wasting one day if I will get an NBI Clearance the same day or went home empty handed.

So what I did was start combing the internet and Dubai Based OFW forums related to getting an NBI Clearance while in Abroad. Luckily, I happen to land in NBI Clearance website and it mentions that every Filipino based in abroad can also apply for an NBI Clearance.

As noted in the website, NBI Clearance can be obtained in their respective Philippine Consulate or Philippine Embassy in every country. Filipinos working or living abroad can easily get their NBI Clearances without the hassle! All they have to do is visit the nearest Philippine Consulate or Philippine Embassy and have their NBI Clearance processed.

Before I start discussing, I need to inform you that applying for an NBI Clearance while you’re in abroad is not a one day process thing. You’ll know the reasons why when you get to read the entire article.

What are the requirements in getting an NBI Clearance in Dubai?

The requirements for the NBI Clearance when you applied in abroad is almost the same with if you applied in the Philippines. In getting an NBI Clearance, you need the following as an NBI Clearance requirement for your application. These are the following:

NBI Form No. 5 and SPA Form
A 2” x 2” photograph with white background. The photo should be taken within three (3) months.
Original and Photocopy of your Passport and your VISA
Payment of 340 AED

For NBI Form No. 5, don’t worry about this, you can simply get this NBI Clearance document in Philippine Consulate. Please note that the NBI Form No. 5 is for free, you don’t have to pay anything. Just ask nicely

What are the steps in getting an NBI Clearance?

I’ll discuss each steps so it would be clear to all so you’ll not get lost when you also apply for one.

Before we start, I’d like to inform you that you need to go you need to go to the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai. The complete address is Villa No. 234-851, Beirut Street, Al Qusais 3 – Dubai – United Arab Emirates with telephone numbers +971 4 2207100.

My advice is before going to the Philippine Consulate General, it’s best to call them first if you need an appointment for NBI Clearance Online processing.

1. Once you arrived in Philippine Consulate in Dubai, don’t waste any second. Ask where you can get the NBI Clearance Form No. 5 and people will be glad to help you.

2. Fill up the said document completely. Make sure to avoid any erasures. Though they’re not strict, just make sure that you erase your mistakes cleanly. You must use black ball pen when writing on the forms.

The NBI Clearance Form No. 5 requires every applicant to provide their personal information such as your Name, Birthday, Gender, Present Address and other stuffs. Its very easy, it will only take me 15 minutes to finish the entire form.

After finishing up with the application form, don’t put your thumb mark (finger prints) yet! There’s a separate step for that.

3. Now you’re done filling up the application form, it’s time to put the 2×2 photograph of yours in the space provided in NBI Clearance Form No. 5.

4. Now this part is solely for the purpose of the thumb mark portion of the NBI Clearance application form. You need to ask the assistance or endorsement of the consulate general/Police Agency to have your fingerprints impressed (Rolled Impression) on the assigned spaces in the application form. After you’re done impressing your finger prints, you need to make sure that the person who assisted you have signed his/her name and stated his/her official designation on the space provided in NBI Form No. 5.

Again you need to ask where you need to go to have your finger prints on the form. As for my experience, they asked me to go to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Dubai located just accross Al Mulla Plaza. The said government office of Dubai will handle the finger printing of your NBI Clearance form. Note that there are fees to be paid here for the finger printing. This costs you AED 110.

5. You’re almost done in your journey! The next step is to go back to the Philippine Consulate and pay the necessary fees. You’ll be asked to pay AED 200 for the Special Power of Attorney (SPA) and for NBI clearance.

It’s also advised that you bring two to three photocopies of your Valid Philippine Passport as it is need for your NBI Clearance Application.

6. After your paying all the fees, the Cashier will give you an official receipt. Make sure to keep it. The Official receipt will also tell you the date of release of your NBI Clearance. In my experience, I got my NBI Clearance after seven (7) days. It was delivered to my doorstep.

You have two option, either you send all your papers to the Philippines where your authorized representative will personally process your NBI Clearance in NBI Clearance Main Office ORyou let the Philippine Consulate General Office process it for you.

Please note that the NBI Clearance Application shown below is not used anymore. NBI Clearance already shift its sails to online processing and the manual printed out application form that the applicants used to fill up with their details are no longer used.

If you want to get application form for your NBI Clearance, you won’t find any. All you need to do now is go to the official NBI Clearance Online website where you start your application. For the sake of this tutorial, I will be giving you an overview what to do on applying an NBI Clearance Online.

The first step in applying an NBI Clearance Online is to register an account with NBI Clearance website. Go get your email address and register it!
Enter all the required personal information in the personal information section.
Pick your preferred NBI Clearance Branch, schedule an appointment.
Pay your NBI Clearance Application in 7-Eleven.
Go to the NBI Clearance Branch you selected on your appointment date to process your application.
Proceed to the window where they get your Photo and Biometrics.
Proceed to Releasing Section to get your NBI Clearance.

NBI Will Start Issuing a Multi Purpose NBI Clearance

Multi Purpose NBI Clearance is live now! Yes, you’ve heard it right. Starting October 2, 2017, National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine Government Agency in charge of NBI clearance Online are now issuing a Multi Purpose NBI Clearance. That means a multi purpose NBI Clearance can be used for any transactions that is required both local and also in abroad. Just like the old NBI Clearance, the multi purpose NBI Clearance is still valid for one (1) year with a fee of Php115 per copy.

Through an issued memorandum dated September 7, the NBI Director Dante Gierran said that the National Bureau of Investigation has changed the format of its NBI clearance Form to bear the phrase “Issued for whatever legal purpose,” instead of the old version for specific purpose such as local or overseas employment and travel abroad.

This action from National Bureau of Investigation was in response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s call to simplify all the government transactions. Fixing the NBI Clearance Online simplifies everything and addresses the red tape. The new Multi Purpose NBI Clearance aims to provide convenience to all Filipino who’s applying for NBI Clearance.

So starting on Monday, all the various types of NBI clearance being issued for specific purposes for example, a gun license, travel abroad, visa application and for job application will be gone.

The newly implemented Multi Purpose NBI Clearance will start to be issued at the price of P115, following a directive from Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.

“All existing NBI clearance forms shall be utilized and consumed for this purpose using the NBI clearance printing program to be deployed by the ICTD (Information and Communications Technology Division)” Gierran said.

Gierran also instructed all NBI clearance processing centers nationwide until September 18 to post an announcement in “conspicuous places” of their respective offices about the implementation of the multi-purpose clearance.

An example was given by NBI – Information and Communication Technology Division Executive Officer Welerme Haplasca Jr. was an instance wherein an NBI Clearance applicant will apply for a local job and he/she was not hired. Previously, he/she can’t use it anymore but now, through the help of Multi Purpose NBI Clearance he or she can still use it.

It was also stated by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II that the Multi Purpose NBI Clearance system is the answer to the needs of the people who are facing the growing demands for record-keeping and civilian identification. After the Multi purpose NBI Clearance clears the applicant’s name, he or she can use it for any purpose they want.

Before, the applicants of NBI Clearance have to state the specific purpose of their application. Also the fees varies according for each purpose.

Another change the National Bureau of Investigation has implemented was making the process for “HITs” more convenient and easier. “HIT” is the term used by NBI Clearance if the applicant has a namesake, a pending case or his/her namesake has a pending case which requires the NBI Clearance to be verified further before released to its owner. There are 104 Million (and counting) breathing individuals in the Philippines. With that size of population, there’s a very small chance that you have a namesake who already applied for their NBI Clearance. It was also noted that this change is applicable both local and NBI Clearance in abroad.

If you have a pending case or if your namesake has an existing one, You only have to appear to an NBI Clearance Quality Interview to verify your identity without having to pay additional fees.

According to NBI-Information and Communication Technology Division Deputy Director Atty. Jojo Yap,

“First, we need to know the case. During the interview, it will be determined if indeed it was you. If there is a doubt, you will need to secure clearance from the court, if there is a warrant, to prove that it was not you.”

If you’re wondering how to apply for Multi Purpose NBI Clearance, here’s how:

1. First, Register an account with NBI Clearance website.

2. Fill up the Application form in the NBI Online Registration website.

3. Set an appointment schedule and pick a branch we’re you will process your NBI Clearance.

4. Get the reference code for your NBI Clearance and pay NBI Clearance Application in 7-Eleven or in any payment option available.

5. Go to your selected NBI Clearance and present your Valid IDs as a requirement for Multi purpose NBI Clearance. You can use your Philippine Passport as a requirement for your Multi Purpose NBI Clearance Application.

6. Have your Photo and Finger print taken.

7. Go to releasing area to get the printed Multi purpose NBI Clearance of yours!

Valid IDs Accepted in Applying in NBI Clearance

When you arrive at the NBI Clearance Outlets, you are required to present both your Valid and acceptable identification documents (Valid IDs).

There are several Valid IDs in the Philippines available that are accepted in various transaction in validating a person’s identity such as his or her complete name, address, age and most of the time his or her physical appearance.

Having an updated or recent photo in your Valid ID is very important. In that situation, you can easily prove your identity in any situation. For example, If you’re opening a bank account, the bank representative will ask you to provide one. Or even if you are trying to board an airplane, the airport crew will ask you to present a valid ID. It’s the same when getting an NBI Clearance Online.

After you arrive at any NBI Clearance Branch, you are required to present any Valid Identification to show that the reason for which your application is in good faith. Without presenting any valid id, no matter how important your NBI Application is, they will not grant it to you due to lack of NBI Clearance requirements. The NBI Clearance personnel has the right to deny you the service you are requesting due to non compliance of Valid ID Requirement.

Please note that the list of valid IDs below are strictly as is and only the following valid identification documents are acceptable. If it’s not on this list, it’s not acceptable, and your NBI Clearance application will not be acknowledged.

The Valid ID you presented including any required signatures, must be original, not photocopied or reproduced and should not be expired so make sure to check it also. This is one of the common mistakes by most of the people but with this guide since you know the list of of accepted ID’s to use in NBI Clearance Online Application you just need for the easiest one to get.

Only the following identification documents are acceptable. If it’s not on this list, it’s not acceptable, and your application will not be acknowledged.

The requirement is any two (2) of the following valid Identification Cards:

Passport
PhilSys ID or Philippine National ID
UMID or SSS ID
PRC Card
Birth Certificate Authenticated by PSA
Voter’s ID or Certificate of Registration
TIN ID (BIR)
PhilHealth ID

Police Clearance issued by Police Station where applicant is resident of the Station’s Jurisdiction
Certification from the Local Civil Registrar
Certification From Malacanang in connection with Indigenous Groups, Tribal Membership, Foundling
Solo Parent ID
Company ID for Government Employees
Seaman’s Book and SIRV
Marina

You are responsible for understanding and following these identification (valid ID) NBI Online requirements and policies. You may be denied to enter an NBI Clearance Outlet if you cannot present an acceptable ID or if the validity of the ID is in question.

The NBI Personnel has sole discretion for determining the validity and acceptability of any ID presented for admission of your application, and for any determinations regarding non-compliance with valid ID policies.

Valid ID documents must:

Be issued by a governmental organization or the school which you currently attend to.
Be an original document — photocopied documents are not acceptable.
Be valid and current — expired documents (bearing expiration dates that have passed) are not acceptable, no matter how recent the expiration may be.
Bear the applicant’s full name.
Bear a recent recognizable photograph that clearly matches the test-taker.
Be in good condition, with clearly legible text and a clearly visible photograph.

Voter’s ID – this is usually obtained through the office of Commission of Election.

PRC License – issued by Professional Regulatory Commission after you passed the required board examinations.
SSS ID – issued by the Social Security System.
GSIS UMID – issued by Government Service Insurance System for Government Employees.
Postal ID – can be obtained through your local Post Office.
School ID – issued by the School if the applicant is still studying.
TIN ID – issued by Bureau of Internal Revenue
Philhealth ID – issued by Philhealth.
Alien Certificate of Registration – can be obtained in Bureau of Immigration for Foreign Applicants.
Senior Citizen – go to your Municipal’s Office of the Senior Citizens Affair.
